ABOUT LAKE FORK: Lake Fork, Texas is located approximately 90 miles east of Dallas, Texas between I-30 and I-20 just east of US 69. The reservoir is owned and operated by the Sabine River Authority of Texas. Final closure of the dam was made in early 1980. Conservation pool level was reached in December of 1985. Lake Fork has estimated 27,690 surface acres at conservation pool level. The lake is laden with flooded hardwood and pine forests. Significant areas of hydrilla can be found throughout the lake. Lake Fork produced the Texas state record Largemouth Bass in January 1992, weighing in at 18.18 lbs. Lake Fork has produced 34 of the Texas top 50 bass ever caught. The top 6 bass in the State of Texas have been caught at Lake Fork.
